May 2008- Lt. Kennedy Gunner was awarded the Marine Corps League's Officer of the Year for the Franklin Police Department. The awards banquet was held at the American Legion Post in Morgan City. Local police departments along with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office select that one officer who has stood out among his or her peers to receive this annual award. Lt.
